THE CHANGE MAKER’S VOICE FRATERNITY COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN 2024.

Today, November 25, 2024, marks an auspicious celebration of the International day for the elimination of violence against women. The Change Maker’s voice in alignment to the vision of the global community seeks to observe the event with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting collective action against gender-based violence.

The event highlights one of the most pervasive human rights violations globally. This year's theme, "Every 10 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women,” emphasizes the urgent need for increased funding and prevention strategies to address gender-based violence.

The day marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign running until December 10, International Human Rights Day.

Advocacy efforts highlights alarming statistics, including that nearly one in three women worldwide has experienced violence in her lifetime. The campaign also calls on governments to allocate more resources for prevention, improving survivor support systems, and ensuring justice for victims.

The initiative features widespread participation, including awareness drives, educational events, and public demonstrations. Social media platforms see a surge in engagement under the hashtag #NoExcuse, encouraging individuals to share resources and support efforts to combat violence against women.

The United Nations and partner organizations reiterate the importance of investing in women's organizations and training for law enforcement to create a future free from violence. The campaign also spotlights the disproportionate impacts of violence in conflict zones, workplaces, and online spaces, urging a global response to these challenges.

This year's commemoration not only highlights progress but also reinforces the need for systemic changes to eradicate violence against women and girls permanently.
